The Voice 1.12 'The Finals' review: Popularity contest
"In thirty minutes, they're going to be distracted from you beating them in the charts." –Blake Shelton
After two months of going through The Voice, I am actually invested in a couple of these artists. For a split second I thought that would be a problem but when I realized there was but one show left last week, a part of me was unbelievably saddened.
I love The Voice. I don't think there's ever a dull moment, well not as much as there is on that other singing competition, and I was really rooting for the whole 'focus on their voice' thing but I know that the voice doesn't really matter. America has chosen its winner. And I don't think tonight's performances could have changed that, regardless how disastrous they could have been.

In Plain Sight 4.08 'Kumar VS. Kumar' review: Pregnant pause
"I had sex. It worked." —Mary
Sheesh, did it work, Mary! Like, big time. Oh, whoops, excuse the pun. But honestly, there is no more hiding the fact that Mary (both character and actor) is with child. Thankfully, the script synched up with how far along Mary has come with her pregnancy since this was the big outing episode. I can deal with the fact that doctors, women who have been pregnant before, and even Marshall knowing that Mary was knocked up in previous episodes because... well, it's believable. (My mother can tell if someone is pregnant by looking at their nose and she's in the travel business.)
But in this episode, there was no denying it. And the script lined up perfectly.
I'm sure there are production reasons as to why the producers had to write Mary's real-life pregnancy into the show but I'm coming up empty as to how it moves the story along in any which way. It's nice to see Mary in this new phase of her life, but that's about it. And I suppose I shouldn't over think that.

True Blood 4.01 'She's Not There' review: Exposition and then none

More like lukewarm, Pam. Quite lukewarm. I don't know what to make of this episode. Let's get some things straight from the get-go, here: I don't particularly mind the time warp/jump, in fact I may even love the idea; therein lies the problem, though.
Absolutely everything was just described to us. And that kind of... sucks, for lack of a better word.
A good pilot episode of a series introduces all of its characters without actually introducing them; the story is set up to show the audience that these characters have been living for a while, but their story is about to begin... now. "She's Not There" mostly felt like a bad pilot episode that was forced to show where all of our characters were currently but demanded we never ask how they got there in the first place.

Review – The Vampire Diaries 2.22 – ‘As I Lay Dying:' The Ghost Whisperer
This post has been reprinted from Fangnatics.com, where it was published originally.
“You can pay me back tomorrow… and the next day. And the day after that. And the day after that…”
Well, that wasn’t as much fun, now was it? The problem with tonight’s finale is that they put everyone on such a rush last week, and expectations from what we witnessed last season were so amazingly high — I mean, this is the show that brought us “Founder’s Day,” one of the best season finales ever, as stated by me — that there just wasn’t a way for this episode to compare. Truth be told, the show runners could have made last week’s episode the finale and be done with it. But they went that extra step further and tried to blow everyone’s mind even more.*

Review - The Vampire Diaries 2.21 - 'The Sun Also Rises:' No, I want to die for Elena!
This post has been reprinted from Fangnatics.com, where it was published originally.
Bonnie: "If you do it, I'll take you both out."
Elijah: "You'll die."
Bonnie: "I don't care."
Oh, The Vampire Diaries, how amazing you are. Who else went into the beginning of this episode and thought: man, this isn't the season finale? Are you sure? Because, wow! In fact, I thought that so much that it was going to be in the title of this post. I, however, went with the gag that every single person in the show wants to die for Elena... but more on that later. Instead, let's talk about the good of this episode for the better part of this post.
You have to give credit to the showrunners of this series: they just do not hold back. Tonight's episode could have easily served as a season-ender, and instead it was only the penultimate episode. It's definitely a different way than the show ended last year. In season one, everything was leading up to Founder's Day. And I do mean everything. They had been talking about Founder's Day pretty early on in the year, and the same was true for this season. Except for season two, everything was supposed to lead up to The Sacrifice. So in a way it's a little weird that the finale isn't going to be the sacrifice, but I'll take it.

Review - The Vampire Diaries 2.20 - 'The Last Day:' My so called human life
This post has been reprinted from Fangnatics.com, where it was published originally.
So, first off: I know this is late, and I apologize. Second off: holy mother of god was this an episode or what? And with that, let's just dive straight into it.
"The Last Day" was exactly that for Elena. Klaus has declared that tonight the sacrifice will happen; Elijah has an elixir that will supposedly bring her back to life, since Klaus has to drain her body dry of blood, but Damon isn't happy about that; Elena is okay with dying but... Damon forces her to drink his blood. Meaning that if she dies with the blood in her system (which presumably takes more than a day to get out) she will become vampire. What!?
